Democracy - A failed vision or just romanticized?

Although he makes high-handed statements and often commits terrible blunders, Musharraf is the best option for Pakistan. His cabinet appointments are strong, his economic vision is sound and his clout in the army still rock solid.

I find it ironic that Democracy is so celebrated given the fact that in its grass roots level, democracy relies on autocracy. If he does step down, a vacuum will ensue and power struggles will only attract the most corrupt.

P.S. Look at all the political party structuralization in Pakistan. Can you confidently state that not one of them is a victim of greed, corruption and exploitation?

For democracy to be sustainable, there needs to be a medium of intellect, moderation and understanding. The last thing Pakistan needs is blind idealism and a false sense of utopia.

i think i am going to agree with you. I was thinking that putting emergency state in Pakistan was a bad idea but i think a couple of people have convinced me to look deeper into it and understand the rationality.

I hope all goes well with the country.
